From Paris to Pennsylvania

The same design aesthetic that commands premium prices at Restoration Hardware and Roche Bobois. Built in solid hardwood by Amish craftsmen in Pennsylvania.

No veneer. No particle board. No brand markup.

You Already Know What You Want

You've browsed the Restoration Hardware catalog. You've walked through the Roche Bobois showroom. You know exactly what you want your home to look like: rustic-refined dining tables with iron hardware, sculptural pedestal bases, sleek low-profile beds with brushed metal accents. The problem isn't your taste. The problem is what's behind the finish.

Most high-end furniture brands use the same materials as the mid-range ones. Engineered wood. Veneer over MDF. Cam-lock assembly hidden behind a $4,000 price tag. You're paying for the brand name, the catalog photography, and the retail square footage. Not the construction.

Amish builders in Pennsylvania produce these same design aesthetics. Live-edge tables, sculptural bases, minimalist platform beds, French-inspired curves. The difference is underneath: solid hardwood, dovetail joints, mortise-and-tenon frames. Furniture built the way it was meant to be built, at a fraction of the designer markup.

The Restoration Hardware Look

Live-edge details, iron hardware, reclaimed-style finishes, Belgian-inspired warmth

Construction difference: RH uses engineered wood with veneer finishes. These collections are solid cherry, oak, and maple with hand-forged iron hardware and dovetail drawer construction.

The Roche Bobois Look

Sculptural bases, artistic silhouettes, bold contemporary statement pieces

Construction difference: Roche Bobois imports from factories worldwide. These pieces are built in a single Pennsylvania workshop, 200 miles from Rochester, from solid American hardwood.

The Poliform Look

Clean lines, low-profile silhouettes, sophisticated finishes, understated luxury

Construction difference: Poliform achieves that smooth finish with lacquered MDF. These collections get it with hand-rubbed solid hardwood in maple, cherry, and walnut.

European Elegance

French Provincial curves, transitional refinement, arched details, graceful proportions

Construction difference: Imported European furniture often uses softwood frames and stapled joints behind the upholstery. These are solid American hardwood with mortise-and-tenon construction throughout.

The RH Catalog Was the Starting Point

A couple from Pittsford walked in with a dog-eared Restoration Hardware catalog, pages flagged with sticky notes. They wanted a bedroom set with that warm, rustic-refined look: reclaimed-style wood, iron accents, substantial proportions. The RH version was $14,000 for a bed, two nightstands, and a dresser. Built with engineered wood and veneer.

They found the Westmere Bedroom Collection in our showroom. Same aesthetic: thick planks, iron hardware, distressed finish. But solid cherry construction with dovetail drawers and a mortise-and-tenon bed frame. They customized the stain to match their existing flooring, something RH doesn't offer.

Total cost was roughly 40% less than the RH set. The difference in construction quality was obvious the moment they touched the drawer fronts.
