Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, stain selection is one of the most popular customization options. Each builder offers their own stain palette, typically 20 to 40 colors ranging from natural blondes to deep espressos. You can also request custom color matching if you need your new piece to blend with existing furniture. We recommend visiting our showroom to view stain samples on actual wood, as screens don't always capture the true warmth and depth of a hand-applied finish.

Every piece at Amish Exclusive can be customized. Since each item is built to order, you're not limited to what's on the showroom floor.

Common customizations include:

  • Wood species — oak, cherry, maple, hickory, walnut, or brown maple
  • Stain color — most builders offer 20 to 40 stain options
  • Dimensions — adjust height, width, or depth to fit your space
  • Hardware — knobs and pulls in brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, matte black, and more
  • Structural changes — add drawers, modify shelf spacing, change door styles

Yes, and many customers do this intentionally. A common approach is to choose arm chairs from one collection for the heads of the table and side chairs from another for the remaining seats. As long as the seat heights are within an inch of each other (standard is 17 to 19 inches) and the wood species and stain match, mixed chair styles create a personal, collected look. Our staff can help you choose combinations that work well together. Bring photos or stop by the showroom to see options side by side.
In most cases, yes. Since every piece is built to order, Amish craftsmen can often adjust height, width, and depth to fit your space. Common modifications include shortening a table to fit a smaller dining room, adding height to a bed frame, or narrowing a dresser for a tight wall. Some structural limitations apply. For example, extremely narrow bookcases may need design adjustments for stability. Bring your room measurements to our showroom and we'll help you figure out what's possible.
Our Webster showroom at 2045 Empire Blvd features a rotating selection of bedroom, dining, and living room furniture on display. You can see the wood species, stain colors, and craftsmanship quality up close. While we can't stock all 260+ collections, we carry representative pieces from our most popular lines. We also have catalogs, stain samples, and wood samples to help you make your decision. Stop by Tuesday through Saturday 11am to 5pm or Sunday 12pm to 4pm.
Minor surface scratches can often be buffed out with fine steel wool (0000 grade) and a matching furniture touch-up marker or wax stick. Deeper scratches and dents in solid wood can usually be repaired by a professional furniture refinisher. Unlike veneer furniture, solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished multiple times. For small dings, try placing a damp cloth over the area and pressing with a warm iron. The steam can swell the wood fibers back into place.
